My Sac State Portal

The Home Base for Every Hornet

The My Sac State portal is the official 24/7 online dashboard where students, faculty, and staff can manage their account, access campus information, process administrative and academic tasks, and explore services customized for their unique journey - all from any location and any device. To access the My Sac State Portal, you’ll need to set up your My SacLink Account.

Employee Portal Changes

Starting May 27, 2025, you’ll see changes in the Employee Portal. These updates were based on user research and feedback from Sac State staff and faculty. They were designed to improve ease of use and enhance your overall experience. Please view the list of Employee Portal changes below.

Customization

  • You can now personalize your experience by adding your favorite links to the My Quick Links section in the center column.
  • Faculty/Staff Related Links have been moved into All Employee Links in the center column. These links can be added to My Quick Links for easy access.
  • Internal Documents & Resources have moved to the center column.

Improved mobile experience

  • Popular Tools and Resources have moved to the left-hand side with larger icons for easier navigation on mobile devices.
  • The ENS (Emergency Notification System) tile is now located on the right-hand side of the screen.

Added important content

  • Your Sac State ID will now appear directly below your name for quick reference.
  • OneCard in Popular Tools and Resources has been replaced with the Software & Training Catalog.
  • Sac State featured Events has been removed and replaced with buttons to Holiday Schedule and Payroll Calendar.

Better access to technology support

  • A new link to Contact Area IT Consultants has been added to make it easier to get IT help when you need it.

Streamlined Design

  • The hero image and other extraneous features like “Latest News” have been removed to keep the focus on tools and resources you use most.

New My Sac State Portal Experience

My Sac State Portal Preview in Laptop

Drawing on recommendations from the Student e-Lifecycle Business Process Mapping Project, insights from Usability Research Studies, and findings from the President’s Listening Tour, this campus-wide initiative draws inspiration from leadership, faculty, staff, and students to develop a framework for enhancing the portal experience.

These enhanced experiences will be introduced gradually to cater to each campus audience. The My Sac State portal will undergo continual updates based on annual user feedback over the next few years, enabling us to refine and improve the portal based on user input.

Putting more "my" into my.csus.edu - that's the goal of the upcoming My Sac State Portal Project. Learn more about this campus-wide initiative to better support every Hornet's unique journey in a modernized, responsive, and single-platform online resource. The new My Sac State Portal features:

Campus Collaboration

From Steering Committee and Project Core Team leadership, to usability research studies, focus groups, and interviews to capture user requirements, the portal project has engaged with every division and department to ensure comprehensive plan development and training and support to ensure a successful campus-wide adoption.

The My Sac State Portal project was born out of the findings from the "Student e-Lifecycle" project. The "Student e-Lifecycle" project’s goal was to ensure comprehensive student support through a concise and secure online presentation of key information. The project was completed in January 2024 and provided the following set of recommendations for improving the My Sac State portal.

Redesign and Access

  • Phased redesign of My Sac State portal, utilizing new software with a mobile-friendly design
  • Centralized dashboard with SSO access to key tools
  • Single-sign on (SSO) access to Canvas, Student Center, Email

Enhancements and Personalization

  • Personalized content, news ribbons, modern design
  • Clearly actionable links and personalized notifications
  • Forms and Online Services page categorizing all available services
  • Intentional language will create a sense of community and belonging while reducing confusion for students
  • Organized sections, for example, Financial Aid, Academic, Support, Help

Future Phases and Communication

  • Future phases targeting announcements based on student level
  • Communication campaigns for faculty/staff awareness as well as student groups, such as incoming freshman, transfer students or graduating students – with differing interests, priorities and needs
  • Home screen/dashboard with Advisor details and course links
  • Housing and Meal Plan section with amounts due and announcements

From project scope through to launch, the Steering Committee and Project Core Teams guide the progress of this campus-wide initiative, providing leadership, key division/department representation, resource support, and communications/promotional advocacy.
