Hive Entry - New Managers
Sac State provides tools to equip new managers with the fundamental skills and knowledge required to perform your role effectively.
Your First Year
Orientation and Onboarding meetings - Based on your manager’s recommendations, schedule introductory meetings with your department and university colleagues. We also highly recommend setting up weekly or bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with your direct reports.
CSU Onboarding e-course - Provides an introduction to the California State University (CSU) structure, policies and practices.
Foundational Knowledge and Expectations
Required Training Online - By your second week, you will receive compliance training assignments via CSU Learn, our systemwide employee training system. You can access CSU Learn through My Sac State.
MPP 101 - A series of live trainings that explore the manager's role in the employee life cycle and knowledge needed to effectively manage in the unionized environment at Sac State. Completion is required of all MPP.

Key Skills Course Catalog - The catalog provides links to training platforms and highlights essential skills important for success at Sac State. The Leadership and Supervising Others e-courses underscore the importance of managers shifting their focus toward coaching employees and emphasizing outcomes.

Performance Management - Prepare for performance evaluations using HR's tips and guides. Utilize CSU Learn AI simulation tools to practice conversations, such as Providing Constructive Feedback During Performance Reviews
